Breaking News: Indian government to give one lollipop to each MP who will vote in favor of FDI in retail

TOP STORY - POLITICS

Shaking the entire Indian political arena, UPA sources told exclusively to India Satire correspondent that the UPA Government will give one lollipop to each Member of Parliament if he/she votes in favor of FDI in retail. The development has shocked everybody in India including the main opposition party BJP, which demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation on morale criteria.

"We were not aware that UPA government will go down to such levels to pass a policy. This shows the corrupt nature of the government. Prime Ministerji should take the responsibility and immediately vacate the office," said Sushma Swaraj.

She said "The idea of distributing lollipops is to push these MPs to vote in favor of draconian FDI in retail."

Sources close to the development said that big party leaders such as Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati demanded 2 lollipops. However, the government is trying to negotiate with them.

"We are talking with Mulayam and Mayawatiji. Possibly they would get half the lollipop more," said source close to Kapil Sibal, telecom minister of India.

The government, however, denied such thing and asked that such speculations are possible ahead of any major events.

"We are aware that rumours and speculations are possible ahead of such a significant development in India. But we want to confirm that we have not offered any lollipop to anybody for voting in our favor," said Manish Tewari, spokesperson and Minister of State of Telecom in India.

However, if believes in the source, UPA government is expecting many NDA MPs to join the UPA government in the voting just to have the taste of the lollipop.

The development also attracted recently activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal who said that according to his sources for each lollipop the government has paid Rs 10 against market price of Rs 5.

"The government has to answer the corruption of Rs 5 per lollipop per MP," said Arvind Kejriwal in a packed press conference.
